The beach right at the end of Thomas Avenue — a five-minute drive, or an easy walk, from the property — is one of the most versatile stretches of sand in Pacific Beach. It’s wide enough and gentle enough for beginner surfers and families alike, with lifeguard-marked zones separating the surf area from the swimming area so everyone can share the water safely. It’s a great default choice on a day when you haven’t planned anything specific: grab boards or towels and walk down, and you’ll find a spot for whatever the group wants to do, from bodyboarding to just lounging in the sun. Always check the lifeguard flags when you arrive, since the surf and swim zones can shift day to day. Sunset here, looking back toward the pier, is one of the better free views in the neighborhood.
