A Local’s Guide to Eating in Pacific Beach: Where Our Guests Go

We get asked “where should we eat?” more than almost any other question, so here’s the honest answer, not the list every travel blog copies from the same three sources.

For breakfast, Breakfast Republic on Mission Boulevard is the one guests come back raving about, it’s busy on weekends so go before 9am if you’ve got early risers. World Famous, right on the boardwalk at 711 Pacific Beach Dr, does a good breakfast too and doubles as a solid dinner option later, with a patio close enough to hear the waves.

For something quick and reliably good, Oscar’s Mexican Seafood on Emerald Street is the fish taco stop locals actually use, no frills, just good food fast. Mr. Moto Pizza on Mission Boulevard is the easy answer on nights nobody wants to cook or wait for a table, order ahead and walk over.

If the kids need a win after a long beach day, The Baked Bear on Mission Boulevard makes its own ice cream sandwiches to order, and it’s become something of a nightly ritual for a lot of our returning families.

None of these require a reservation, all of them are walkable from most of our homes, and none of them will make you feel out of place showing up sandy and sunburned. That’s the actual character of eating in Pacific Beach, good food without the performance.

If you want a home base close enough to walk to all of it, check availability on our Pacific Beach properties, most are one to three blocks from the restaurants on this list.
