Getting to Pacific Beach: Airport Transfers, Parking and Getting Around Without a Car

Travelers with luggage inside an airport terminal

San Diego International Airport (SAN) is one of the more convenient airports in the country for exactly this reason: it’s about fifteen minutes from Pacific Beach with no traffic, and rarely more than 25 even at busy times. There’s no long freeway haul waiting for you at baggage claim.

Rideshare and taxi are the easiest option if you’re not renting a car, pickup points are clearly marked outside every terminal and the ride itself is short and simple. If you are renting a car, all major rental counters are on-site or a short shuttle ride away.

Here’s the part that surprises a lot of guests: once you’re here, you may not need the car much. Every one of our homes is one to three blocks from the sand, walkable to restaurants, coffee, and grocery basics, and close enough to the boardwalk that biking or walking covers most of a typical day. Trader Joe’s on Garnet Avenue and Ralphs on Mission Boulevard are both easy walks or a five-minute drive for a bigger shop on arrival.

If you’re planning day trips to La Jolla, Balboa Park or Sunset Cliffs, a car does help, all are a short drive rather than a walk. But for the core of a Pacific Beach stay, beach days, breakfast runs, evening boardwalk walks, most families find they use the car far less than expected.

Parking at each home varies by property, so check the listing details or ask us directly if a designated spot matters for your trip. We’re the actual owners, so we can answer that kind of specific question faster than a call center ever will.

Check availability on our properties and we’ll walk you through arrival logistics for your specific home before you land.
