One to Three Blocks From the Sand: Inside Our Quietest Pacific Beach Rentals

A quiet residential California neighborhood street lined with palm trees

Pacific Beach has a reputation, and most of it is earned by Garnet Avenue after dark. Our homes are not on Garnet Avenue, and that’s entirely on purpose.

Every one of our eleven homes sits on a residential street, one to three blocks back from the sand, far enough from the bar scene that nobody’s woken up at 1am, close enough that walking to the beach with an armful of gear is still a five-minute job, not a production. Emerald Getaways is one block from the water, Reed Townhomes and Beryl House are two blocks, and our Solana Beach condo has stairs leading straight down to the sand.

This location choice comes directly from being parents ourselves. We wanted our own kids to be able to walk to the beach without crossing Mission Boulevard traffic, and to sleep through the night without noise from the boardwalk crowd. When we started renting out homes, we kept the same standard for every property.

It also means the neighborhood around each home is genuinely residential, quiet streets, neighbors who’ve lived there for years, the kind of setting where kids can ride bikes without much worry. You still get everything Pacific Beach is known for, the restaurants, the surf shops, the boardwalk energy, it’s just a short walk away instead of outside your front door all night.

We think this is the difference between a vacation that looks good in photos and one that actually lets your family rest. A beach house should mean better sleep, not less of it.
